During Phase 1 of the DLP Project (2021 – 2023), the DLP team focused on improving standards in speech and language across the 26 schools in the Eastwards Consortium. 

One of the ways that standards in speech and language were improved was through the implementation of the Wellcomm Early Years and Wellcomm Primary toolkits in schools.

The DLP team used Wellcomm Early Years’ and Wellcomm Primary’s Big Book of Ideas and created activities that parents/carers were able to complete at home with their children.

Wellcomm helps you to identify pre-school and primary school children who are experiencing barriers to speech and language development so that you can support them early in their education journey.

Available for Early Years (6 months-6 years) and Primary-aged pupils (6-11 years), the toolkits are quick and simple to use (requiring no speech and language expertise). Reports take traffic light scoring format, making them easy to interpret.

Both toolkits come with an age-appropriate ‘Big Book of Ideas’ with targeted activities to help you take appropriate action straight away. Activities and strategies can also be shared with parents for use in the home learning environment.

Support is provided for children who are referred to a speech and language therapist and those who are not, as well as EAL pupils.

WellComm Digital:
WellComm Digital was officially launched on Wednesday 22nd May 2024. The Wellcomm toolkit has not been rewritten, so therefore the screening questions and activities from the Big Book of Ideas, remain the same. The changes are now that the whole toolkit can be accessed online and that all screening is carried out via desktop PC/tablet and then the results are immediately uploaded. This also means access to intervention support with suggested activities and individual reports/group reports can also be loaded and used straight away.

Prices:
The prices for the new Wellcomm digital toolkit are now on a subscription basis. The WellComm digital toolkit from 6 months – 11 years (this includes everything from the Early Years toolkit & Wellcomm Primary) – cost 1 year licence £250.00 and 3 years £600 per setting.

If you wish to continue using the paper Wellcomm toolkits, you can just purchase the WellComm reporting tool (the updated version of the Wellcomm Report Wizard). This costs £50 per year for the Early Years and £50 for the Primary per year, however all schools who currently have the Early Years and Primary toolkit will be able to purchase both reporting tools for just £50 per annum.

The Cluster Licence is £250 per year and discounts may apply for LA bulk purchase. Prior to the launch of WellComm digital any school that purchases WellComm Primary or the Early Years Toolkit for £560.00 each, will receive WellComm digital free for 1 year.

Next steps to move to Wellcomm Digital:
GL Assessment will contact all customers prior to the migration from the WellComm Wizard to the new WellComm digital reporting tool and all your data from the Wellcomm Report Wizard will be automatically transferred over. For most of us this will mean that we continue with our online subscription for the Wellcomm reporting tool but it will cost £50 per year instead of £97.
